Nadisut nodded her thanks, trying to stifle a yawn. Going back into her cage, she noticed a few new additions. There were three chew toys; a wooden one, a mineral one, and a cardboard tube (though she had no idea what cardboard was). There was also a small mirror, and a small animal brush. She smiled at the sight, happy to have these comforts, and crawled into bed.

She dreamed that night, the soft comfortable bed reminding her of home. She couldn't remember the dream when she woke, but she felt it had been a pleasant sleep. She blinked, confused at her surroundings for a few moments. "Mom?... Dad?..." And then the events of yesterday trickled in, and she recalled where she was.

Sighing, she got up and stretched, then went about doing what had become routine for her by now. Use the litter box, eat, drink, and stare out the cage bars until something interesting happened.

As she looked around at the office, she suddenly remembered the new things that had been left for her, and that the cage door was open now. She shook her head at her own silliness, then went over to examine the chew toys first. The paper tube was interesting, but she could easily chew it to pieces within a short time. She set it aside to find another use for it later. The mineral block tasted good, and she spent a few moments gnawing at it, before turning her attention to the wooden toy.

Now this was interesting... The thing was a brightly colored cube, and the wood was soft, but would still trim her teeth and take awhile to destroy. She left it alone for now, a memory nagging at her that she couldn't quite bring to the surface.

Turning to the mirror, she poked at it, seeing that it was the same hard material as the one in the washroom. She knew a little about glass, though her people had no use for it and the only example she had ever seen at home was underneath a place where lightening had struck the ground. This felt like glass, but she couldn't figure out why her reflection was coming back so clearly. Back home, they had simply used clean water for mirrors.

Giving her own version of a shrug, she picked up the brush, noticing that someone had trimmed down the handle to make it easier for her to hold. She couldn't help a sigh of pleasure, turning blue and purring as she ran the bristles through her coat. It had been too long.

The bounty hunter had brushed her fur while she was under his care of course. But she always been asleep at the time to reduce the chance of him being bitten, so she had no memory of that.

Pulling the brush away, she looked down at the loose blue hairs. Gathering them out carefully, she set the bundle nearby, and faced the mirror again. Focusing on her color, she shifted green, and bushed a new spot. Pulling that fur from the brush, she bundled it separately from the blue. She repeated the process several more times, turning a different color before brushing herself each time. It would have taken less time to simply brush her coat and not worry about the color, but an idea was slowing forming in her mind, and she wanted specific colors.

Finally finished with her grooming, she went back to the cardboard tube, carefully unrolling it. Using claws and teeth, she cut it into several smaller pieces, making sure that each one still rolled up when she let go of them. That done, she placed each bundle of colored fur into its own paper roll, and stored them off to the side.

Turning back to the wooden block, she scratched at it with her claws, drawing a pattern. Though most skilled in weaving and farming, her parents had also been teaching the two older siblings how to craft and repair their own tools for the work. A drop spindle was fairly easy to make--or so it had seemed at the time watching her parents at it. Now however, she wasn't so sure. As she started carving the wood with her teeth, Nadisut wondered if her spinning skills had faded as much as everything else she knew seemed to have done...

Meanwhile, the reward notice Ice had sent got a reply. A very unusual reply, as it wasn't a text message, but an actual video call. If Ice chose not to answer, it would go into the "recorded calls" section.

On the screen was a male trandoshan, surprisingly fat for his species and dressed in what seemed to be a chef's outfit, though it was hard to tell with all the ugly unknown stains on the normally white cloth. Behind him was the hustle and bustle of a busy restaurant kitchen. He was clearly calling during business hours. Compared to the cleanliness of Ice's station, this particular kitchen looked like something out of a horror holovid...

"Hello?" he asked, "Sorry if I woke you up. Time changes, am I right?" he chuckled at his own joke, than continued, "Also sorry about the holo-call like this, I know most don't like it but as you can see--" He held up his claws, covered with dough which he was currently kneading. "--I can't exactly text in here, and by the time I get off work, everybody else is asleep again. I'm one of those who prefers doing business face to face. Anyway, I'm calling about that notice for the little furry thing. What did you call it, 'Kushi-something'? I got a suppler who gets 'em for me. But I'm always looking for a new buyer. Yours could do with some fattening up, but that's easy enough. How much do you want for it?"

If the message did go to recording, he would add, "Call me back when you can. Just ask for Oredrew."

Ice watched the recording with a raised eyebrow.  When it was finished, he let out a tired sigh.  The people he sometimes had to deal with...he thought to himself while rubbing his temples.  Pulling up his comm unit, he returned the call and asked for this "Oredrew" person.  When the man arrived, Ice gave him a small but respectful bow.  "Greetings.  I am returning your call about the Kushiban.  Though I think you may have misunderstood what I was looking for.  You see.  I'm not looking to sell the one I have.  Rather, I am trying to get information on them.  Would you be able to provide me with the contact information to your provider please?"

He sincerely hoped this person would not give him the runaround.  And if he could get the contact information, this search would have been far easier than he originally suspected it would be.

It was the fat trandohan who answered him again, this time holding a squirming live gizka. "Huh, who's that? Oh! It's you. Good to meet you in person, so to speak." He smiled and seemed friendly enough, but Ice would notice that the man squinted, as if he had trouble seeing. "I'm Oredrew, owner of this fine establishment, Oredrew's Exotic Meats. Our motto is, if it's not gizka, we serve it!" Then he thought for a moment, and added, "Funnily enough, gizka is our most popular dish."

As he listened to Ice, his expression turned confused, "Oh? Hold that thought." Getting a better grip on the gizka, he quickly snapped the creature's neck, killing it instantly. As he sharpened a butcher's knife and proceeded to clean the animal, he said, "My provider would be my nephew, Arp. But he's a hard one to get a hold of. Keeps changing his contact number every week. I only know it when he calls me, and he hasn't called this week yet. Sorry about that. Scales if I know why. You'd think he wouldn't be so paranoid around his only family! I'm a nice enough guy!"

Carving several choice cuts of meat from the gizka, he handed them off to an assistant for grilling, and roared, "Hey Joe! Did he want these steaks still kickin' or shoe leather?!"

"Shoe leather!" yelled Joe from off camera.

Oredrew sighed, shaking his head and grumbling about ruining a perfectly good steak. Turning his attention back to Ice, he asked, "What do you what to know? Maybe I can help. I can't tell you much, but better than nothin' right?"

Ice sighed when he realized he wouldn't be getting the information he so desired.  Not out of this one at least.  "Unless you know the coordinates of the planet these little creatures are from, I'm afraid you can't help me."  He paused for a moment and then added.  "Unless you could at least forward this contact information on to your nephew when he does call.  Then I can simply make a deal with him.  Could you do that for me, please?"  Ice hoped that the man would comply, if for nothing else than that it might help his nephew.

Oredrew frowned, thinking a moment, than said, "Afraid I don't know, sorry. You'll have to ask Arp yourself. He'll probably charge you an arm and a leg for the info though. Boy's as money grubbing as they come. But sure, I'll pass it on to him for you. Anything else?"

Ice shook his head after a sigh.  Such was life in the galaxy.  Everything had a price.  "No, but thank you.  Be well."  Cutting off the call, he sighed again.  "Well that was a promising lead that turned into nothing at all.  I doubt I'll ever see that turn into anything."  He humphed in an irritated manner before checking to see if there was any more responses from his advertisement.

Ice would find no other video responses, although there was an odd texted one in which somebody was offering a "rug" for sale that had images of kushiban woven into it. They claimed to have gotten it from a friend, who claimed to have found it in a cave after going on a hunt to bag several of the furballs for their soft pelts. Said friend seemed to think that the rug had been made by the creatures. The seller thought the whole thing was a scam and that the "rug" was a fake, and was wondering if Ice was in on the joke.

The image attached showed, not a rug, but a small, well made tapestry. It was brightly colored, and seemed to shimmer in the light. The images showed what seemed to be a scene of daily life for the kushiban, with several farming a strange plant in the background, while the foreground showed others spinning thread and weaving. Unfortunately, according to the seller, his friend had somehow fried their navicomputer and lost the coordinates to that particular planet where the textile and kushiban had been found.

Meanwhile, Nadisut had taken a break from carving her block of wood. Her jaws were starting to hurt from the effort. Settling down, she plucked several strands of fur from her bundles, and began twirling them together by hand. She had not seen Cortana yet, and found herself wondering what she and Ice did during their days here.
